Looking for information about your old Gibson banjo?
Do you have an old Gibson banjo you'd like to find out more about? I truly love signing into my e-mail and seeing the subject line "old Gibson banjo"! Good records on prewar Gibson banjo production are unfortunately not available, so there's no way of knowing what surprises are hiding out there in people's closets and under their beds! It was fairly common for Gibson to make banjos that deviated from the standard catalog descriptions, either as custom orders or simply to use up available parts. It's always especially exciting to see photos of something I didn't know existed!
The best way for me to tell you something about your banjo is for you to e-mail digital photos to me at gearnest@mindspring.com. The more photos you can send and the more detailed they are, the better. If you do not have this capability, please e-mail me about sending photos by snail mail.
Need help locating your banjo's serial number? You might also want to check my list of "missing" prewar Gibson banjos.
I am always interested in buying old
Gibson banjos. If you have one of these instruments that needs to find a new
home, I would love to talk to you about it.
