Gibson TB-3 #9024-96

#9024-96 is a beautifully preserved
example of a late 1920s TB-3 with
two-piece flange, forty-hole archtop tone ring, notched tension hoop, diamonds
and squares inlay, and a fiddle-shaped peghead. The wood is straight-grain
maple. In addition to the serial numbers stamped inside the wooden rim and
written inside the resonator, the number 96, indicating this particular banjo's
place within lot 9024, is also stamped in the neck heel and in the outside of
the rim where the heel makes contact.
This banjo has been converted to five-string with a neck by Frank Neat featuring wreath inlay on the peghead and Florentine Special inlay on the fingerboard.
