Gibson TB-1 #9877-50
The style 1 of the 1930s was one of Gibson's lowest-priced banjo models. In an example of Gibson's legendary production idiosyncrasies, however, every TB-1 that has surfaced from lot #9877 features the engraving pattern of the gold-plated, engraved Granada model on the tension hoop. With the exception of this engraving and the presence of four, rather than the typical three, resonator lugs, #9877-50 (see Gibson banjo serial numbers vs. factory order numbers) is a catalog-standard style 1 tenor for the period. It remains in fully original, excellent condition with a calfskin head, original case (including key), and sheet of maintenance instructions from the factory.
