Gibson RB-Granada Mastertone #8250-41

This banjo bears a 1926 factory order number and the pot is consistent with a 1926 Granada with two-piece flange and grooved tension hoop.  However, the tone ring is a high-profile flathead rather than a ball-bearing and the Mastertone label is uncut.  The five-string neck is inlaid with the style 6 pattern with checkerboard trim on the peghead and a duplication of the the neck side binding on the edges of the ebony fingerboard.  Curtis McPeake has recently examined this banjo and determined all its components to be prewar.  Whether the banjo was put together in the thirties using some leftover twenties parts or was modified later by the factory cannot be determined.
