Gibson GB-3
"An ideal 'double' instrument for the Guitar player--nothing of the sweet guitar harmonies is lost in giving it banjo sparkle and brilliance in the Guitar Banjo. Indispensable in the Banjo Band to give correct instrumentation--very effective in small dance combinations where piano is not available." This was what Gibson had to say about the guitar banjo in its 1932 catalog. This 1927 example conforms to standard style 3 specifications for the time, with maple neck and resonator, nickel-plated hardware, a two-piece flange, and a solid archtop tone ring. The pickguard is original equipment on many Gibson banjos from this period. The fingerboard is inlaid with dots and the peghead features the old style "The Gibson" logo. The tuners are the original Grovers, and the banjo remains in its original hard shell case.
